French Football Federation to Try and Block Tickets

altTo avoid a flood of Irish fans at the Stade de France, November 18, in the second leg of   World Cup 2010 countdown, the French Football Federation (FFF) is banning the sale of tickets on the Internet. A measure that is easier said than done.

In French press reports, Raymond Domenech warned,

"Team France will need to strongly limit the French public, November 18 at the Stade de France for the second leg of playoffs against Ireland. A crucial meeting for both teams in their qualification for World-2010 ..."

The FFF has taken no risk. "No sale on the Internet and by telephone," says the website of the FFF. To earn a spot, from this Thursday, October 22, supporters of the Blues must go to outlets where they can not buy more than four seats. Also according to the site, all tickets resold on the black market on the Web will be invalidated.

Tickets for sale on the Web

As with the previous qualifying matches, Irish fans will officially be given with 8000 seats - or 10% capacity Stade de France - made available on Federation of Irish soccer (ISP) website.

However in a few clicks and google search, anyone can find a ticket on the web. On the Irish version of the site online auction eBay, tickets for the France-Ireland match are already priced 125 euros each. The Stade de France will certainly be greener than expected on the 18 of November.
