| Seatwave on growth course in Germany |
Seatwave has increased its ticket sales in Germany in the third quarter of 2009 to 124 percent compared to third quarter last year, according to a recent German press release. In particular, the number first time vendors increased by 243 percent over the same period last year.
According to Seatwave, concerts such as Depeche Mode and the German Football Bundesliga in the third quarter, led to a sharp increase in ticket transactions on Seatwave.de compared to third quarter last year. More sellers also mean a greater choice, more competition and thus more attractive prices. "Our growth shows that the secondary market ticket is accepted very well and there is a basic need for this service," said Joe Cohen, founder and CEO of Seatwave. One reason for the sharp increase in transactions involves the selling of tickets at the original price or below face value. Seatwave says will provide an incentive to keep the price level on a fair level. The new service has been widely communicated in the third quarter of this year through a marketing promotional campaign, addressing fans across Germany.
