FIFA chief in world cup ticket controversy

altSepp Blatter, the president of world football governing body FIFA oversaw the award of a contract for up to £342 million in World Cup hospitality tickets to a company part-owned by his nephew’s firm, alleges the UK Express.

According to the tabloid, the football chief made the award to MATCH hospitality, knowing that his nephew, Philippe Blatter, would benefit.

FIFA has confirmed its president’s role in the appointment.

The revelation comes as fans struggle to gain tickets for England’s games. They claim FIFA has issued too many tickets to VIPs at the expense of real fans. Prices are an average £900 per hospitality ticket, rising to £3,750 for the final, for seats worth a face value £125 plus food, drinks, entertainment and parking.
