Sites have been advertising and selling non-existent tickets to events held in around Europe ncluding Spain, France and Germany, according to Reg Walker of Iridium Security. Scam ticket websites have been a growing problem in the UK. Some claim to offer tickets for sold-out events but then fail to deliver the items. Others supply e-tickets that are not accepted at the festival gates. The Metropolitan Police's central e-crime unit said that at the height of last summer's festival season it closed down more than 100 sites in one month - citing greater vigilance from festival organisers and police investigators, and co-operation from some domain operators. However this was prompting the criminals to target new markets, said Mr Walker, who works at large music events including T in the Park and the Isle of Wight Festival, as well as for the O2.
