Nokia launches Gig Finder App

altNokia has beaten competitors in the race to launch an App for the music events industry (see EU Ticket News Opinion: "Will Mobile Ticketing Take Off in 2010?"). The new Gig Finder App lets users search for concerts and live music entertainment, get recommendations and buy tickets directly from  vendors on their handsets. It’s currently available in the US, Canada, UK and Ireland.

Gig Finder can already be downloaded on S60 5th Edition handsets like the Nokia N97, N97 mini, X6, 5800, 5530 and 5230. According to Nokia Beta Labs, the App will continue to be developed mainly based on the feedback it sees from users and as live event information becomes available in counties outside the current range. The Gig Finder application works by  connecting via the default Internet access point.
