Beyoncé Trinidad Gig set to raise Millions... of Ruffled Feathers!

altAs if performing for “Hannibal” Gadaffi on New Year’s Eve, wasn’t bad enough (Beyonce nets $2 million performing for Gadaffi's son), Beyoncé, is now on course to steal the limelight from Trinidad’s annual carnival. And residents are up in arms.

The Trinidadians are angry that the scheduling of the concert, set to take place two days after carnival, will do nothing but take attention and funds away from the event, which earns considerable tourist money for the country.

And foreigners have indeed been snapping up tickets... for the February 18th concert. Fans from as far as Australia, Japan and Germany have bought tickets online. Sales to date amount to over $1 million and most of these were VVIP tickets costing $1,600 each, according to the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT). TSTT also reported that total tickets sales were already approaching $3 million last Thursday.

Carnival stakeholders have challenged the decision by TSTT to host the event during the Carnival season, but are still waiting to meet with the company’s CEO, Roberto Peon.
