Ebay Profits Up - Stubhub and PayPal Key

altEbay on Wednesday reported a 16 percent revenue growth from last year, an increase it attributed to gains in PayPal and its US ticket marketplace, StubHub.

Ebay's marketplaces business – which includes eBay.com, Shopping.com, StubHub, Kijiji and other e-commerce sites – had $1.5 billion (€1.06 billion, £926.8 million) in revenue for the fourth quarter, a 15 percent increase. Marketplaces currently have 90.1 million customers, up from 89.2 million last quarter, and up from 87.7 million last year. International sales accounted for 60 percent of Marketplaces revenue for the quarter.

On StubHub, ticket sales were up 54 percent from last year, said chief executive officer John Donahoe, during a conference call with analysts.

Donahoe pledged to increase innovation, particularly in the mobile space. The company's iphone app has been downloaded almost 7 million times.
