| Radiohead Raises Half a Million Euro for Haiti |
Radiohead raised almost €500.000 euro in a benefit concert for Haiti relief in a special, one-off performance last Sunday.The concert, held in Los Angeles, USA, marked Radiohead’s first performance since last year at the uk Reading festival. Radiohead, in the midst of a recording stretch, announced their concert only fifty hours before the show. The Los Angeles Times noted that concert tickets were sold at an online auction and each fetched between $475 (€550) and $2,000 (€2500) each. The concert included notable Hollywood stars such as Drew Barrymore, Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake and actresses , and was played in front of a mere 1300 people. The band ran through a dozen hits, two encores as well as a new track – Lotus Flower - that Thom Yorke had previously sang at his solo gig.Proceeds will go to charity organization Oxfam. and the Radiohead concert was part of a fundraising programme organized by Oxfam which also included auctions for memorabilia donated by other famous bands such as Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay.
