Magnitude Events - Fake UK Ticketing Site Rips Off Fans

altUK fans of boyband Jack the Lad Swing (JLS) who were ripped off by a dubious ticketing website called Magnitude Events LTD. have been complaining across the Internet about the theft. The website, now down and disabled, apparently took money from scores of ticket purchasers but did not supply tickets... then promptly vanished from the Net.   The old site can be seen in Google Cache here and there's no address, no phone number,  no VAT number, and the domain name hides behind an anonymous domain registry in the US.

Commenters at Safe Concerts Forum, who reported the site to the UK Police Central E-crime Unit in the UK, noted:

"...they must of 'sold' hundreds of tickets as they are advertising for a lot of concerts."

The also noted the following:

Magnitudeevents.com has all the signs of a scam site.

1) Every event that is coming up before January is out of stock even for events that are just not selling like Depeche Mode or Simple Minds. These tickets are selling below face value so there is no shortage of these tickets.
2) The prices for tickets are way too cheap.  £50 for JLS is below market price for this band. No secondary site would sell these tickets this cheap at this stage.
3) If they are requesting payment by bank transfer then stay well away.
4) You should always use a Visa or Mastercard when buying online, Magnitudeevents.com does not take any cards! Every company takes cards these days.

Consumer Direct in the UK has a list of things to watch for before you purchase ticket online here.  Activities of Magnitude Events are being investigated by Sussex Police. If you have purchased tickets from this distributor please contact DS GABLE on julie.gable@sussex.pnn.police.uk and quote serial 256 of 09/01/2010.
