AC/DC to Play at UK Download 2010 Festival

altThe rumours are true and Live Nation announced today that AC/DC are returning to Donington Park as headliner for the UK's Download 2010 in June. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Donington’s association with rock, and also marks 30 years since the release of AC/DC's iconic album Back in Black.

Joining AC/DC and following two incredible sold out shows at Hammersmith Apollo before Christmas, are supergroup Them Crooked Vultures.

Live Nation has also confirmed appearances of the Deftones along with Stone Temple Pilots, Bullet For My Valentine, Megadeth, Motörhead, Wolfmother and Volbeat, with plenty more to announce in the coming months.

In 2009, there were 128 bands on the bill, across four stages. The festival is one of the world's premier rock gatherings with AC/DC's arrival as a mega name by headlining in 1981. ZZ Top flying the famous 'Eliminator' car over the masses in '85. The emotional return of drummer Rick Allen when Def Leppard played in 1986 – his first UK show after losing an arm. The enormous gathering for Iron Maiden in 1988, at the same festival that really kickstarted the momentum which was to make Guns n' Roses the biggest band in the world.
