Cyber Criminals Expected to Burn World Cup Football Ticket Buyers for Over €1.3 Million Euro

According to the UK Daily Star on Sunday newspaper, fans are set to lose up to €1.3 million to cyber criminals in the lead-in to the World Cup.

UK fraud ticket websites are expected to net fraudsters a whopping €550,000 from British fans alone. Close to 100,000 British are expected to fly to this summer’s tournament in South Africa. But only 29,000 will get tickets.

Now experts fear desperate fans will be duped into handing over cash to fake web traders. A source at the Office of Fair Trading told the Daily Star Sunday:

“These sites often look very genuine and hook people in very easily.”
