World Cup Tickets selling like Hot Cakes in Australia

Australian fans are buying the most tickets for the 2010 World Cup. Football Federation of Australia CEO, Ben Buckley, said the figures show a growing football following in the country - and prove Australians would warm to the prospect of hosting the World Cup in 2018 or 2022.

Outside of Africa, Australia received the fourth highest number of tickets drawn (11,804), with only the Americans, British and Mexicans getting more.

According to FIFA, Tickets for the World Cup semi-finals and final, as well as two of England's first round matches in South Africa, have sold out. FIFA said it had sold 585,175 tickets, some 70 percent to local residents, in its third sales phase.

The fourth and final phase of World Cup tickets sales will open on Tuesday with 400,000 seats still available.
