Winter Olympics: More Tickets for Opening Ceremony

Extra tickets for the Winter Olympics opening ceremony will go on sale on Tuesday, according to the Vancouver Organising Committee (Vanoc). The move is to ensure that “empty seat syndrome”- large blocks of empty seats that have peppered events at previous Olympics - won’t be a problem in Vancouver over the coming weeks.

Caley Denton, Vanoc's vice-president of ticketing and consumer marketing said:

"We are in the process of getting into all of our venues and establishing sight lines behind the cameras, so we do expect to have some releases in the coming week.”

But Vanoc says tickets to almost all other events -- with the exception of a few hockey and curling sessions and some victory ceremonies -- have been sold out, although a small number of new tickets may become available.
