| Olympic Tickets Priority for Londoners? City Hall looks into Ticketing Options for UK 2012 Games |
The City Hall of London has entered the fray on whether residents of the host city should get tickets first for the 2012 Olympics. The group's culture, sport and tourism committee stated in a recent UK news report that it is looking at ticket sales including prices, whether schoolkids should get discounts, how to fill seats at less popular events and even the risks of ticket fraud. The issues are expected to be dealt with at the group's February 24,2009 public meeting that will include representatives from the O2 Arena and the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games.Committee chair Dee Doocey told the East London Advertiser: “We want to make sure Londoners’ views are taken into account before organisers make their final decision, given how much we’ve all paid for the 2012 Games. “There are still crucial questions, such as priority or children’s discounts. The whole process has to be fair and transparent.” The Assembly just opened an online forum today for the public to have their say and tell the Olympic organisers what they think, ahead of the official announcement of the ticketing strategy later this year. Nine million tickets go on sale through a ballot next year. Nearly half are likely to be under 20 pounds say organisers, although official prices have not yet been announced.

by Richard Kastelein
OP/ED - "The seller defines the price at Ticket Trade, not Mojo Concerts," states the site. I guess that's why two tickets to Rammstein cost over €600 euro on Mojo Concerts aka Live Nation's 'Black Market', secondary ticketing site at Tickettrade. The hypocrisy of a...
