Eventim's CEO, Klaus-Peter Schulenberg, told the German finanacial newspaper “Euro am Sonntag”: “It was the initial plan to enter the Spanish market, but we decided to postpone this step because of the economic crisis” The events market on the Iberian Peninsula has recently shrunk enormously. Eventim's international expansion will , however, continue. According to Schulenberg: “2009 was a very good year. We are planning to enter both the French and Belgian markets in this year and the next.” Schulenberg also said they plan to pull back from major events, believing that sales of tickets for the World Cup and the Olympics take up too much capacity.
