| Warning to all Festival Fans: Concert Organisers Put Out Warning for Fake Tickets and Wristbands |
|
The UK investigation was formed by police, festival organisers and the security companies. And their inquiries have shown that criminal gangs are planning to burn festival fans for money not once, but twice. First they try and sell to fans via a fake website and, then secondly, they try to rip off the same disappointed customer money by selling them fake wristbands at the venue where they are refused because of their fake tickets. A trial run of these scammers in 2009 at the Reading and the Leeds festival caused enormous damage. Melvin Benn, organiser of both festivals, announced that in 2010 scanning systems are to be used for the first time to identify the fake wrist bands. According to Benn all festival tickets ans wristbands for music events must have a bar code so it can be scanned. Marek Lieberberg Konzertagentur, organiser of Germany’s biggest festivals “Rock am Ring” and “Rock im Park” and many other events has warned visitors about buying tickets at non-authorised suppliers since the checking of the tickets and the wristbands will be a standard procedure in the future. Festival visitors should also be aware during the festivals, concerts and other music events they attend that pick pocketing is also on the rise. As NME states in another article, crime is on the rise at events such as concerts. According to numerous German forums on the internet this also happened at festivals and concerts in Germany. So if you want to be safe, you are advised to leave all your worthy belongings like mobile phones and wallets at home.
