| FA Announces England's pre-World Cup plans |
The English Football Association has officially confirmed Mexico and Japan as
England’s pre-tournament opponents. The FA has also confirmed details of
England's Austrian training camp arrangements and Fabio Capello's final
squad announcement date ahead of this summer’s World Cup in South
Africa.On Sunday 16 May (the day after The FA Cup Final), the England Manager will announce a squad for England’s pre-World Cup training camp. This squad will travel to Austria on Monday 17 May. If there are players involved in The FA Cup Final or Champions League Final on 22 May, they will follow a different itinerary. England will come back to London to play Mexico at Wembley Stadium - the exact date of this fixture will be confirmed later this month. After this game, the squad will travel back out to Austria ahead of the match against Japan in Graz on Sunday 30 May at the UPC-Arena, kick-off 2.15pm local time. Ticketing information for both these fixtures will be announced in due course. Following the game in Graz, the players will travel back to England and be given a short period of time off. On Tuesday 1 June, Capello will name his final World Cup squad of 23 players and the following day, this group will meet and fly out to South Africa arriving in the country early on Thursday 3 June. Meanwhile, tickets are still available for England’s match tonight against 2010 African Cup of Nations Champions Egypt at Wembley Stadium, kick-off 8pm. Any fans wishing to purchase tickets at the stadium are urged to arrive as early as possible.
