Simply Red Tour is a Final Farewell

altSimply Red the British soul band that sold more than 50 million albums over a 25-year career, will play their final Farewell Tour after a quarter of a century of touring, allowing Mick Hucknall to pursue a solo career and segue on his own. Their infectious style, influenced by blue-eyed soul, new romantic, rock, reggae and jazz, is sure to draw massive crowds as they embark on their farewell voyage.

“Welcome to the final year of twenty five mind blowing years,” says Mick Hucknall of Simply Red’s final shows. “What an adventure it has been!”

"...I've kind of decided that the 25 years is going to be enough, so I intend that the 2009 will be the last Simply Red tour."

Since their finitial tour way back in 1985, Simply Red have played over 1,100 shows to over 11 million people, notched up over 55 million global sales, over 31 Top 40 UK singles, 3 BRIT Awards, 2 Ivor Novellos, 2 US No.1 Singles and a MOBO Special Achievement.

“I could never have imagined my career would bring me so far,” added Mick Hucknall to the UK Press. “We want to share this closing anniversary with all the people who have enjoyed our sound throughout the years. Celebrate it and gently move on to the second half of a musical story. We all hope to see you at a show somewhere soon.”

The band will play their final farewell shows in South America in April 2010, then in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the UK from September to December 2010.
The announcement of the Farewell tour coincides with the release of a new Simply Red album, Songs of Love. It features Simply Red's finest love songs and two brand new recordings. The first is a very personal Hucknall song I Have The Love and the second is a new recording of Beside You, a song which appeared originally on the soundtrack to the movie What Dreams May Come.

The Songs of Love album is to be available exclusively through Tesco stores. Purchasers of the CD will be granted access to the pre-sale of the Simply Red Farewell tour.
