Bob Dylan Dumps Asia Tour over China

Bob Dylan canceled shows in Asia after the Chinese government refused to allow him to perform in Shanghai and Beijing. Dylan was touring the region for Taiwan-based promoters Brokers Brothers Herald.

The original plan was to include China, Taiwan and Hong Kong after recent Japanese and Korean dates but China’s Ministry of Culture refused permission for the Shanghai and Beijing shows without reason.

Industry insiders blame Bjork for the tightened control for international artists in China after she allegedly angered officials and "hurt the feelings of the Chinese people” two years ago, by chanting ‘Tibet! Tibet!” at one of her gigs.  Dylan will tour Europe through until July 4.
