| Whitney Houston UK Tour Dates Postponed |
Whitney Houston's first UK tour in over a decade years has been postponed due to illness, reportedly she is suffering from an upper respiratory infection and has been advised by her doctors not to get on stage. The first three dates of the tour at Manchester Evening News Arena (April 8-9) and Glasgow SECC (April 11) have been rescheduled by promoter Marshall Arts. The Glasgow date has been moved to May 1 and the Manchester shows will take place at the end of the tour on June 16-17. "Doctors visited Whitney late last night in Paris and confirmed that she was suffering from an upper respiratory infection," said a statement from Sony Music today (April 7). "Upon medical advice Whitney has been advised that she cannot perform to allow her time to recover." "Only last month Whitney had said how excited she was to be performing again in the U.K. after her 11-year absence and was looking forward to performing new songs as well as crowd favorites," the statement continued. The decision was made with "great disappointment" and it follows the April 6 announcement that Houston's Paris show that evening was postponed. Houston's recent performance during her "Nothing but Love" Australian tour in February was blasted in the press. Down Under fans and critics stated Houston was out of breath and had trouble hitting notes during her concerts in the Antipodes. The show features production from Baz Halpin, who created shows for Pink and Tina Turner. "That makes it real," she said of singing about personal struggles. "The changes that we go through, the transitions that we go through, the tests that we go through, being a mother, becoming a single mother — it all had its ups and its downs, but for the most part, I kept my faith and I kept my head up and I took my time."
