| Wacken Open Air Festival Servers Hacked of Credit Card Details |
It is the most desired purchase of the year for heavy metal fans: a ticket to the Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany. People who bought the tickets using their credit card can expect a call from their creditcard company these next days as hacker attacked the server that is used by the Wacken Open Air Ticket Service.
According to information from a German news show called NDR 1 Welle Nord that the the hackers accessed credit card information on the financial tranaction servers. The security company that is also in charge of Visa and Mastercard said they know more such cases. Britta Kock, Spokesperson of the Festival, told NDR 1 Welle Nord: “This kind of attack doesn’t just happen like that. For this you need a huge criminal network and a lot of knowledge. Open Air Festival organisers immediately informed ticket buyers and the credit card companies. Fans who bought tickets with their credit card are advised to check their accounts immediately. The Wacken Open Air in northern Germany the biggest heavy metal festival in the world. Every year in early August a pilgrimage of 75,000 metal fans descend into the small village of Wacken, to rock on some 200 hectares for three days.
