Henry Mountcharles, the owner of the festival’s venue, Slane Castle, told RTE Radio: “I don’t just do it for the sake of doing a gig. I’m sorry that people are disappointed but it would be much, much worse to put a half-baked scenario together"
Slane 2010 was due to take place in castle’s 80,000-capacity grounds Aug. 28 but plans have been shelved this year because Mountcharles was unable to find an act capable of selling out. Last year Oasis topped the bill, but the event was criticised for transport chaos, long queues and overcrowding.
