Tokio Hotel Moscow Cancellation Sparks Law Suit

altRussia's consumer rights society, OZPP, is suing the Moscow venue where pop-rock act Tokio Hotel was due to perform last month. Thousands of fans are yet to be reimbursed for the gig which was cancelled without prior notice.

On the OZPP website, the consumer body states that it is suing the venue rather than promoter, Top Concert, because it was the only company mentioned on theTokio Hotel tickets.

According to OZPP, the exact number of people who purchased tickets is not known, but there are "several thousand" who should be reimbursed.

In accordance with the Russian law, OZPP cannot claim a particular sum of money in damages from Olimpiisky, but if the court upholds the claim, everyone who purchased a ticket will have to be reimbursed by the venue. The tickets were priced at between 1,500 roubles (€38) and 22,000 roubles (€566).

Top Concert - a major player in the Russian live market, which also promoted shows by Prodigy, a-ha and Franz Ferdinand - put the blame on the cancelation of the Moscow show and another (scheduled for March 8 in St Petersburg) on the artist's management.

According to Russian business daily Kommersant, Top Concert has renewed negotiations with Tokio Hotel's management and the band's show in Moscow might still take place later this year.
