Sunderland Blame Man United Fans for Limited Ticket Issue
Sunderland FC have decided to issue just 1,700 tickets to Manchester United supporters for the crucial May 2 Premier League fixture, blaming the decision on the notoriety of the away side’s fans.

United supporters reacted angrily to Sunderland’s decision, warning that the move could lead to visiting fans buying tickets for home sections in order to watch the game which is emerging as a potentially crucial fixture in the race for the Premier League title.

Sunderland insist they have cut the allocation (the recommended entitlement is 3,000 tickets) on the advice of the local Safety Advisory Group. They claim that United’s away following have continually flouted warnings over persistent standing during games.

In recent months, United’s ticket allocation has been cut by Aston Villa, Bolton and Manchester City as a result of persistent standing.
