Live Nation Entertainment's Ticketmaster Places Second in Consumerist.com World Company in America 2010
by Richard Kastelein

OP/ED - Live Nation Entertainment (NYSE: LYV) brand jeopardized? It could be. Unsurprisingly, as a simple search of ticketmaster on Twitter will show - or even a search on its nickname - ticketbastard, this is a brand with zero cuddly factor. Ticketbastard brings up more than 100,000 hits on Google search.  I would not be surprised if Live Nation eventually minimizes its use and eventually buries Ticketmaster out back with the rest of the bodies, laying to rest probably the most accomplished, but vilified names in the history of live entertainment. Consumerist.com, run by the same company behind Consumer Reports, recently handed Ticketmaster this year's second place prize as Worst Company in America.

Comsumerist.com apparently are not great fans - with an editorial penned in 2008 called, 'Ticketmaster is evil and they must die'.

Event ticketing is a tough business - both in the secondary and primary markets and branding is a huge concern for all involved. Seatwave recently went to the big screen in the living room in the UK to pitch their business.  Earlier in their existence, and we are not sure about now, Seatwave spent over €1 million euro on media buying.
