| FIFA World Cup Ticket Disaster - Hundreds of South African Football Fans Deceived |
Capetown Football fans who turned up a full day early to buy some of the 15,000 partially obscured tickets that FIFA announced via a press release would be for sale on Monday for as little as €15 were dissappointed when it turned out that a mere three matches were made available to fans. According to Sports24.co.za, the football fans were told that only corporate hospitality tickets were available, and only for Portugal v Korea, Cameroon v Netherlands and the Quarter-Final, with prices ranging from €150 to €260.
Police were called in to prevent chaos when tensions arose and a few wrestling matches took place. "FIFA's lack of communication and general neglect of the South African public can now not get any worse, with hundreds of Capetonians and thousands more across the country left bitter and resentful over what has been a downright catastrophe of a ticketing process from day one," stated Sports24.co.za.
