Isle of Wight Festival to Tackle Street Scalpers with Last Minute Primary Tickets at Gates

altJohn Giddings, the Isle of Wight Festival organiser, has announced he has again held back 1,000 tickets for purchase just before the event begins at Seaclose - at the gate - in an effort to create an environment where secondary ticket sellers at the event, won't find a market to sell. It is the second year running that he has put the scheme into operation.

Giddings told the Isle of Wight Gazette: “The one thing I hate is driving along Fairlee Road and seeing touts selling tickets for the Festival at inflated prices, and making money out of me. So I have decided to hold back 1,000, which will be on sale near the site entrance on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Paul McCartney will headline this year's Isle of Wight festival - the ex-Beatle will perform on the Sunday night of the festival at Seaclose Park, Newport, on June 13, 2010. The Isle of Wight show is slated to be part of his Up And Coming tour which offer five shows in the UK and Ireland.
