Vevo - Youtube Partner to Offer Live Music Concert Tickets and Merchandise

altYoutube Partner Vevo, which offers music videos from three of the four major record labels, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and EMI, is to launch online ticketing and merchandise sales according to the Financial Times in the UK today. The concept for the site is described as being a Hulu for music videos and is a music video and entertainment website owned by Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and the Abu Dhabi Media Company. The service was launched officially on 8 December 2009 and video hosting for Vevo is provided by YouTube, with Google and Vevo sharing the advertising revenue.

"We also offer e-commerce, the ability to buy music and we're launching ticketing and merchandising. I think over time you can charge for great experiences that you've not been able to get any other way before; for example, access to live music," said Rio Caraeff, a former digital executive at Universal Music, who now heads Vevo.

The site does close to 50m unique visitors each month.
