| 2012 Olympic Ticket Prices Announced |
The Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Organising Committee know as Locog, has announced pricing for the London 2012 Olympics Games in the UK.Tickets will range from £20 to £725 except for the opening ceremony with the cheapest tickets at £20.12 and the most expensive tickets set at a pricey £2,012. According to the committee, a total of 8.8 million tickets will be sold for the event, with three quarters of those going on sale to the public starting in March of 2011. Of those tickets, Locog noted that 28 per cent of them will be sold at £20 and 66% of them will be sold for £50 or less. Finally, they said that 90 per cent of all available tickets would be sold at £100 or less. Lord Coe, chairman of the London 2012 event, told the Guardian newspaper: "We have three clear principles for our ticketing strategy," he said. "Tickets need to be affordable and accessible to as many people as possible. Tickets are an important revenue stream for us to fund the games and our ticketing plans have the clear aim of filling our venues to the rafters." Coe added that the idea was to fill every event to the rafters because ticket sales are an important source of revenue for funding the games. Prices for the Paralympics are yet to be announced.
