| WeGotDonations As Ticketing Agency Boosts Oxjam Month |
|
The Oxjam month included the Oxjam Takeover weekend on 22/23 October - a series of city-wide mini festivals, taking place in 31 locations across the UK, from Aberdeen to Bournemouth. This weekend alone saw over 3,000 musicians performing to more than 35,000 people, making it the biggest one yet. Artists involved this year included Faithless, Zero 7, Diana Vickers, dan le sac vs. Scroobius Pip, Four Tet, Johnny Borrell of Razorlight and The Charlatans, all rolling out their support for the month-long activities and pledging support to the charity.Contributing to that effort, WeGotTickets, Oxjam’s official ticketing partner, has been donating 50% of their booking fee on Oxjam tickets back to the charity throughout October. Additionally WeGotTickets customers have been able to make a donation to Oxjam when purchasing tickets for any event on sale. Booking fee and fan donations from WeGotTickets' customers have already topped last year’s efforts and are on target to reach over £7,000 at final count with all Gift Aid additions. Steven Endersby, WeGotTickets' Oxjam Project Manager, commented: “We’re delighted with the success this year. Oxjam is an event we’ve been involved with over the last three years and we again worked with the team behind it during the early planning stages. We’re delighted to see that the work put in throughout the year by so many people right across the UK has led to such a successful Oxjam and it’s great that so much is being raised by our customers. Here’s to Oxjam 2011!” Stuart Fowkes of Oxfam said: “The service provided by WeGotTickets has made it really easy for hundreds of brand new Oxjam promoters – some of whom have never put on a gig before – to sell tickets. At the same time, with their booking fee donations and the voluntary donation mechanism, they’re helping us to raise even more to fight poverty with every ticket sold.” The donation module used on WeGotTickets is available to any promoter who would like a charity to benefit from any of the events they have on sale via the website. This option only adds to an established tradition of the company pioneering new developments - such as paperless tickets and easy ticket reallocation - within the ticketing industry, true to their ethical and independent company values.
