Black Eyed Peas Use Eventbrite For NYC Gigs - Company Announces Eventbrite At The Door

altEventbrite celebrated their biggest ever client with their biggest concert ever Thursday night when some 60,000 ticket were sold on their platform by the Black Eyed Peas show at NYC's Central Park’s Summerstage.

Eventbrite's system took care of the entire process - from online sales, payments to ticket-taking. But despite the concert being rained out - Eventbrite founders Kevin and Julia Hartz have announced the launch of a new product extension to the companies' services called Eventbrite At The Door.

The hardware/software package, including an iPad, a ticket printer and tethered credit card swiper is going to be shipped as a free lease option to Eventbrite customers and it will truly, “Put the power of a box office into your hands... no matter where you are,” Hartz told Forbes.

More from Forbes:

The product was demo’d by Julie Thompson, director of product, who adds that, because of the incredibly wide range of events that Eventbrite supports (“on a boat, on the beach, on the top of a mountain”) one of the best qualities of At The Door is its ability to communicate with the Eventbrite servers to store information and process payments whether there is a wireless connection or not. “As soon as the iPad finds a hotspot, all information is transferred and stored on our servers,” she says, meaning nothing is lost.

An added bonus? The new product has the ability to search Eventbrite’s database for purchased tickets—meaning if you’ve forgotten yours and you’re already on the train to Brooklyn for MEATOPIA 2011, there’s no need to panic—Eventbrite At The Door can print them for you. At the door.

Eventbrite has made huge leaps in the online ticketing arena, not only making it easy to promote events -  through social networking, sell tickets online  but even allowing for ticket scanning on-site with iPhone and Android applications. The next step, and what At The Door adds to the experience, is the ability for event organizers to handle will-call and on-site ticket sales.

As a consequence of empowering many events, Eventbrite sold more than 11 million tickets last year and reported $207 million in gross sales. The platform continuous to grow fast and the team expects to generate $500 million in gross ticket sales this year. Founded in 2006, the website started out gathering much of its traffic from Google. If you searched for an event, you would find Eventbrite's concerts in the search engines results. However, as networking on social media has taken off, people increasingly learn about the events when their friends shared them. It is no coincidence that Eventbrite has taken off with Facebook and Twitter. Though it is not as big as the other two, the platform has become the “real-life” way for people to connect while attending events together.

The San Francisco-based startup raised $50 million in a round of funding led by Tiger Global in May 2011.
