Popularity of rugby growing says new study

The 2010 RBS Six Nations Rugby Championship brought in around £424m (€.470m) for the Northern hemisphere's six competing nations, according to new research commissioned by Mastercard.

Findings indicate a commercially strong picture for Rugby Union in Europe as the sport emerges from the global downturn. England, in particular, has enjoyed a large economic impact from the sport. Ireland was second and was followed by France.

French Open may be evicted from Roland Garros

127Reuters is reporting The French Open could move out of Paris in the next few years because of infrastructure problems,or so said the grand slam's tennis tournament director, Gilbert Ysern. Officials warned earlier this week that the clay-court event could face the boot from its famous Roland Garros site due to public and environmentalist opposition to a much-needed expansion.Tournament director Gilbert Ysern laid it all on the line: "We have two options, we can make it bigger or move out. It would be heartbreaking to leave Paris, but we have to consider it."

Secondary Ticket Market Squeeze at Wimbledon Crumbles
The UK Government crackdown planned last year on the secondary ticket market for Wimbledon has been dumped, according to the British press today. Wimbledon organizers, the All England Club, which runs the famous tennis tournament was hoping to put a halt to trading in the secondary ticket market and cut out the unauthorised internet brokers and stadium scalpers, but they will still be able to continue speculating and profiting from the event.
