World Cup organizers said on Friday that half a million tickets remain unsold and fear that empty stadiums will prevail at football’s showcase global event. FIFA said tickets would go on sale over the counter to the general
public in South Africa on April 15 and they will then have less than
two months to sell nearly a quarter of the tournament’s total match
tickets to avoid ghostly stadiums.

| Tottenham Hotspur football supporters are being charged booking and postage fees for the FA Cup semi final at Wembley with Portsmouth on April 11. Season ticket holder Steve Wheeler, told UK paper, The Mirror:
“Back in the old days we would go and queue up at the ground for cup final tickets, have a bit of a laugh and it would be part of it. The clubs could handle it then, so why not now? But they’ve farmed out the tickets to Ticketmaster who are charging postage and a booking fee for every ticket. We are going as a block of 12 tickets so why is it that you should have to pay £2.50 (€2.80) booking fee for each ticket. Surely it’s only one booking? Loyal supporters like myself are being ripped off as soon as we begin to get a bit of success and are back at Wembley.”
