Football World Cup Threatened - Tickets Too Expensive - Concerns About Safety

altTicket sales for the Football World Cup to be held this year in South Africa are not going as smooth as past years. Franz Beckenbauer, a member of the Executive Committee of the international governing body of association football ‘FIFA’, blames it on the serious safety issues and the exorbitant prices for the World Cup Tickets in South Africa 201.

"Not only do people doubt going there because of security concerns. Also the tickets are way too expensive. As a normal human being: Who can afford 5000 euros or 6000 euros for a week?" Said Beckenbauer in the show "Sky90".

Manchester City Loses 92.6 Million Pounds

altManchester City the biggest annual loss ever reported by an English football club, recording a loss of 92.6 million pounds -  to May 31 2009

The figure, recently announced on the club's website (www.mcfc.co.uk) does not include last summer's 117 million pounds spending spree on Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz and Joleon Lescott.

South Africans scoop up 2010 tickets

altJust hours after the Final Draw for the 2010 World Cup™ was broadcast to a global television audience of 200 million people, and the 32 teams were placed into their groups, tickets for the third phase of sales were released. Fans from around the world are already snapping up tickets, with close to 400,000 ticket applications processed through FIFA.com since midnight on 4 December 2009.

The second stage for the European Football Championship 2012 is opened in Kharkiv, Ukraine

altThe second stage for the next European Football Championship opened in Kharkiv on Saturday, December 5th. The key investor in the Metalist Stadium, Oleksandr Yaroslavskiy, who is chairman of FC Metalist, owner of the DCH Group and coordinator of preparations for Kharkiv Euro-2012, spoke at the opening ceremony to the delight of many Football fans in Ukraine and abroad. Ukraine and Poland are celebrating the championships, and have the two states required for the games in 2012... both in Ukraine.

Sony and FIFA Announce the World's First 3D FIFA World Cup(TM)
